Title

Beaver Creek

Description

In 1766, Daniel and Rebecca Boone moved their family from the Forks of the Yadkin to the Upper Yadkin River, building several cabins in the area. The cabin site along the Yadkin River at Holman's Ford lies beneath the surface of W. Kerr Scott Reservoir built in 1962. The sites of two other cabins are found along Beaver Creek near Ferguson. Nearby is the Whippoorwill Academy and Village with a replica Boone cabin and several preserved structures from the 19th and late 18th centuries. From Elkville, a drive up Elk Creek ascends to the Blue Ridge Plateau on a route used by Daniel Boone on frequent hunting expeditions.
