Dublin Core
Title
DAR marker at Butler, Tennessee
Description
In 1914, Mary Boyce Temple placed nine cast iron markers across the northeast corner of Tennessee. In mid-August, probably Sunday, Aug. 16, she placed one in the grave yard at the Baptist Church in Butler. After World War II, the Tennessee Valley Authority planned to build a dam which would flood the town. Consequently, TVA moved the town of Butler; they took their DAR Daniel Boone's Trail marker with them. Today, it stands in from the Butler Museum.
